Tar_Aldarion

Tar Aldarion, now known as PoliceCops, and for a while, Soap, is a crucial part of MeC as we know it. He helped build the site that you now post on, and he helped do so in the matter that moderators do. He upheld the peace, upheld the justice, upheld the beliefs and the pillars of support that hold this site together. I remember, a very long time ago, when Soap and I clashed emotionally on the forums in much of what we said. Our opinions, our methods of moderation was much different, though I believe that he was my equal nonetheless. You cannot say MeC without including Soap because it was him that kept you from getting flamed violently, it was him that politely informed you if you broke a rule, it was him who, though he banned half of you at some point, upheld the doctrine and rules fervently and professionally.

I remember back in ’04, when the site was just picking up and MeC was beginning to get more and more popular. Soon, Mike needed more mods, not just Soggyfrog and Bloodoath. It is not only littered with posts by retired elders and soon-to-be moderators, it helped Mike to realize that he might need more moderators

How many moderators are there here?

Quoted word from word by him on 08-15-2004. It’s funny how our group joined all around the same time, within a period of 3 months ranging from the site’s creation to Mike looking for staffies for the increasing population. Tar_Aldarion was one of his first choices, though at around the time he joined, he was about as mature as I was. Well, he got the job of Moderator, and he was a damn good one too.

Over the next few months, we clashed repeatedly, followed by brief calms of peace, and then clashed again. Our different moderating styles were obvious. Tar_Aldarion was strict, professional, to the point…I was lenient, friendly, and perhaps a bit unprofessional. I think, as a result of my laughing at half the stuff that went wrong during those times, people tended to like me more than the “dark mod” as I jokingly sometimes refer to him. To clear it up, Soap was a damn good mod, and though perhaps not the friendliest when it came to rule-breaking, he deserves as much respect as any of us, and that’s just what he’s getting now. Tar_Aldarion, on behalf of the staff, we welcome you to the Hall of Fame, and this is our tribute to your excellence as a moderator.
