More book 13 updates from Turbine
Monday, April 14th, 2008

The good folks at Turbine have posted two more updates regarding the upcoming Book 13. Firstly, there is this dev diary about the new LFF (Looking For Fellowship) grouping system. Apparently to do this, the entire quest log is getting a visual overhaul, which looks and works a lot more intuitive. You will also be able to see whether or not your fellowship members have any active quests in the quest chain, and whether or not they have finished any quests you have.

The LFF system itself is being improved by the addition of a new button in the quest log, which will automatically fill out all the details in the “old” LFF screen. Turbine hopes this will encourage people to use this system rather then the good ‘ol LFF chat channel.

And then there is one final addition that’s started some heat on our forums - the mustering horn:

“Whether you’ve just found a pick-up group using Find a Fellowship or the LFF channel, or if you’ve pulled one together from friends or kinship members, if you are spread out across Middle-earth, getting together can take a while. The Mustering Horn has the solution-if one of your fellowship members can get to a campsite near where you all want to quest, you can all be there in short order. Just get there, use the Mustering Horn, and start getting the band back together.”

Last, but not least, Turbine has released their own page with all the info on Book 13, including some fresh shots of Forochel!

Book 13 is a free content update slated for release in Spring this year.

Cool sounds like it will be be fun.

I have my doubts about how many people will use this new system for LFF. For one, it only works for one quest at a time, secondly, it is a lot less noticeable visually in comparison to calling out in chat every other minute.
