LotRO: Shadows of Angmar
Overview
The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar (LOTRO) is a Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) being developed for PC by Turbine, Inc. LOTRO will allow players to explore Middle-earth like never before. Through its use of a class based system, players are thrown into a world set during the time of Frodo’s journey to Mount Doom. They can enter this world through four different races: Men, Hobbits, Elves, and Dwarves.
The game’s geography will mostly include Eriador but this will later be expanded to include other parts of Middle-earth. The game’s focus is largely Player vs Environment (PvE) combat but Turbine has introduced a unique Player vs Player (PvP) combat system called Monster Play. Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar is based entirely on the books, rather than the movies. This allows for a huge array of different storylines and quests that a movie based game would not provide. The game is set for release on April 24th, published by Codemasters in Europe, and by Turbine in the USA and Canada.
