Pandemic starts “The Battle for the Ring”
Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

Pandemic has ended all anticipation and finally opened up its community “Battle for the Ring” website. Here is what Pandemic had to say about their new community site:

Welcome to the Battle for the Ring, Minions! You have joined the official fan community for Pandemic and EA’s The Lord of The Rings: Conquest!

In order to join the quest for domination of Middle-earth, you must review the following so that you are fully prepared for the tasks ahead. Make sure to pay attention, because doing so can help you lead your team to victory!

There will be many different ways in which you can participate in The Battle, and by participating, you can earn Gold so that you can buy supplies from our Supply Stores. Gold is not enough however, to win The Battle, so in addition to Gold, you will earn troops for all the Quests you complete, and you will lead these troops into battle. You will also have the chance to earn badges of honor for completing certain Quests and for proving your valor on the battlefield.

The battles will take place at the most important locations in Middle-earth, and a new battle will occur every other week. The side that wins the battle shall claim possession of the One Ring until the next battle. How do you help the forces of light or dark? By  earning Troops to command, you augment the might of your team. All the Troops you earn are added to your team’s total.  But the total number of Troops does not guarantee victory, because not all men and orcs and elves and nazgul are created equal. Thus, the different classes of Troops are what matter, so the team that has more Troops per class level is the team that will emerge victorious.

If you are a member of the Forces of Good, the troops you can earn are (level 1) Soldiers, (level 2) Dwarven Battlelords, (level 3) Elven Archers, (level 4) Rohirrim, (level 5) Ents, (level 6) Dimholt Undead, and (level 7) Wizards.

If you fight for the Forces of Darkness, you can earn (level 1) Orcs, (level 2) Uruk’hai, (level 3) Orc Archers, (level 4) Warg Riders, (level 5) Cave Trolls, (level 6) Oliphants, and (level 7) Ringwraiths.

If you think that earning Troops is not worth your time, think again, because the team with possession of the Ring will get bonuses in Gold-earning as well as random surprises. So to earn the bigger and better Supplies, it’s in your best interest to earn Troops for your team. In order to claim the bigger prizes, you must also battle your way up in rank from Scout to Warrior to Captain to General to Hero.

In addition to Quests, you can participate in Polls, Quizzes, Surveys, Reviews, and offline activities to earn more Gold. Also, you can help recruit friends to fight on your team, you can chat with your teammates in the forums, and you can post pictures and images to our galleries, and you can share our news and exclusive information with friends and family.

To visit the site, simply log-in with your Pandemic account (or create one if you don’t have one!) at http://www.battleforthering.com

Cheeky Hobbit:
Looks like a really cool way to enhance the popularity of LOTR: Conquest. Seems to be working so far as well.

zach:
Yes of course.

I am thinking if I win a prize, Lords of War will host a tournament and my prize will be donated to it. :)
Samus1111111:
That's always a good choice :D
Ayodon:

zach:
I could refer you. :) Although I am donating anything I win to Lords of War, If I happen to actually win the grand prize I am afraid to say that I must keep the TV for myself, I need a new one. :P

Tired of my old 15'' SD TV. :( Poor college kid aint got any money. Although if I win any of the movies or books I will donate them as I have them already and anyone who doesnt have the extended edition deserves one as its awesome!Q
Samus1111111:
You could donate your "poor" 15" SD TV to me :P, the best I have is a 10-12" huge TV from like 1980 :(
zach:
Lol, you pay the shipping and I will think about it. :P

The chances of me winning the grand prize is slim though. Although on a positive note I have a good 5,000 gold lead on everyone else.
