Vehicles & Equipment

The Lord of the Rings: Conquest, like most FPS games, features “vehicles” and equipment that you can use during combat. Think about riding a horse or a warg, using a catapult or even sitting on top one of the giant Oliphaunts!

We’ve split up this section in two parts, vehicles, and equipment. We classify equipment as any usable items scattered around the map, wheras vehicles are creatures that can be used as a means of transport or attack.

Vehicles

Trolls

While trolls cannot be ridden like Wargs or Horses can, players can “unlock” idle trolls on the battlefield, and take on the personae of these trolls. As trolls, you can pick up and throw around enemy soldiers, or pick up boulders and throw these at enemy troops further away.

Mumâkil

The Mumâkil, or Oliphaunts are huge towering creatures, capable of impressive charging speeds. Multiple archers are present on top of the Mumâkil, picking off any soldiers that the beast doesn’t trample. Enemy troops will have to go trough great lengths to kill a Mumâkil. Perhaps the weakest point of the beast is its size, being unable to evade or hide from enemy attacks.

Wargs

Wargs are four-legged creatures with a very bad temper. Evil troops can use Wargs as a mount, killing and trampling troops while running around the battlefield. It is unkown, but assumed, that the warg itself can kill troops and soldiers using its sharp teeth.

Horses

Horses are in service of both sides in the conflict, mostly used by the people of Rohan, but also used as cavalry units by both the Men of Gondor, Harad and Rhûn, as well as the Elves of Middle-earth. Horses are assumed to be a basic transportation unit, being able to trample units at top speed, while its rider can pick off enemies using a bow or sword.

Equipment

Catapult

Catapults are used by the forces of Evil to force their way into the enemies’ fortress. Even though the walls of locations such as Minas Tirith and Helms Deep are impenentrable for simple catapults, catapults are a great way to scare off enemy troops or set the enemies cities on fire.

Trebuchet (rumored)

Trebuchets were one of the prime defensive measures for Minas Tirith in the movies, situated high on top of the walls. Only the Fellbeasts were capable of destroying these massive weapons - as they were too high for Orc catapults to reach.

Siege Ladders

Siege ladders are typical wooden or steel ladders used to take the enemies’ walls. Isengard used siege ladders to capture the deeping wall, while much larger versions were sent to capture the higher Hornburg.

Mines

Saruman used his scientific knowledge to introduce gunpowder to his forces. Mines are explosive weapons that can be used to cause devestation on enemy defenses.

Battering Rams

Battering Rams are reinforced logs used to force a way trough the enemies gate. Certain gates, like that of the Hornburg, could be breached by simple rams. Others, like the one at Minas Tirith, could not be forced by conventional means.

Grond (rumored)

It is unkown at this point whether Grond can be controlled, but we do know it is featured in the game. Grond was the nickname the Orcs used for their massive battering ram, which did not only scare the enemy, but also allowed Mordor to breach the gates of Minas Tirith.

Ballista

Ballista are basically a much larger version of the crossbow, and are typically deployed as Siege Weapons. Ballista can be used to destroy large groups of enemies, city gates or even walls. The Ballista were employed by Isengard during the War of the Ring.
