Gameplay modes

The Lord of the Rings: Conquest will have a large number of gameplay modes, both in single- and multiplayer. These modes are designed in the same manner as they are in most first or third-person shooter. As such, when you die you will have to find a spot to respawn, and a scoreboard will keep track of your progress in the battle. All of these modes are detailed below.

Campaign

Singleplayer | 2-player splitscreen (PS3), 4-player splitscreen (Xbox 360) | 4-player online co-op

The campaign will take you trough the War of the Ring in a linear fashion. You will fight the enemy on a number of maps across Middle-earth. The initial campaign you can play is the ‘good’ campaign, which will closely follow the events as depicted in the movies – however – it will also feature a number of battles not seen in the books of movies, such as the Dwarves’ initial attempt to reclaim Moria from the Goblins. After finishing the ‘good’ campaign, you will unlock the evil campaign. The evil campaign revolves around what could have happened if Sauron has reclaimed the ring for his own by killing Frodo.

Instant Action Modes

Singeplayer | 2-player splitscreen (PS3), 4-player splitscreen (Xbox 360) | 2-16 player online multiplayer

Conquest

Conquest revolves around capturing and holding points on the map. By holding these points your allies can “respawn” nearby and you gradually decrease the amount of ‘tickets’ your enemy has left to use to respawn.

Capture the Flag

Capture the Ring is a “Capture the Flag” mode, one of the classic gameplay modes in shooters. The objective is to capture the ring and take it back to your home location – while preventing your enemy from doing the same. Whichever team has captured the ring the most times, wins the match.

Team Deathmatch

Team Deatmatch has only one objective: kill your enemies. Whichever team performs the best wins the match.

(Team) Hero Deathmatch

A variant on Team Deatmatch, except everyone gets to play as a powerful hero.
