In news recently released by theonering.net, it has been announced that Elijah Wood is set to appear in The Hobbit films as Frodo. Reportedly, he will be featured at the beginning of the films reading "There And Back Again" to himself. From this, it appears that audiences will be watching the films from the perspective of Frodo first learning the story.

Interesting, I figured they were probably going to do some sort of prologue again since the story is likely to involve Sauron/the Necromancer and the audience would also need to realize that this would take part a long time before the LotR trilogy. Seems like a good way to do it

Interesting narrative device; it could potentially work really well.
"End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path... One that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass... And then you see it.
White shores... and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise." |

Wow that's a fantastic idea! It'll give the story a great sense of connection to the trilogy.

I like the idea. I just hope that the films wont go back and forth between "present day" and the actual movie that often.

Ooo this is a really interesting way to start it off and I like including Frodo. It will be good for those who aren't fans of the books and don't know that this came before the Lord of the Rings.

It works for me. It will help make people understand that this is a prequal. Hopefully there won't be much so the film will mostly stand on it's own to hobbit feet.
Also Elijah really hasn't aged much. Zeke:I am starting to think this show is becoming calm, eh. /Zeke thinks/ Zeke:Things do feel empty withoo't explosions. /Izzy pops out from behind Zeke, scareing him. She puts on his toque/ Izzy: Fret not my Zeke! This show shall get it's big BOOM! Zeke:Boom? Izzy: Things will be ok! Unless that squirrel tries to get in again. His ID was fake! /Izzy runs out of the confessional/ Izzy: (off screen)With the toque of cuteness, there will be a KABOOM! /Zeke blushes/ Zeke:Toque of cuteness, eh? |

This sets the movie perfectly. It was a children's book, so it seems to make sense that it would be presented in the "being told the book" format...
