Codemasters and Turbine are planning to make a big announcement regarding LotRO at the upcoming 'Connect 2008' event. It is considered very likely that this could be the announcement of the first real expansion for the game, which has only explored a small portion of Middle-earth thus far.
When asked for comments, Codemasters and Turbine reps did not confirm or deny the fact that a big announcement is coming up, simply stating 'You will just have to come to connect'. Connect 2008 is a gaming event for all MMORPG games Codemasters has published, but with a strong portion of it powered by the success of the Lord of the Rings Online. The event will be held in the United Kingdom next month, and apparently they are flying in several developers from Turbine as well. Stay tuned to MEC for the latest news |

Well, what else could the announcement be besides an expansion?

I dont know. Turbine has said book 12 is not the last free update to the game, and that book 13 and 14 are in the works - with the first adding a new region to the game.
However, the expansion could either be launched AFTER these two books, so they could tease us with sneak peeks and previews for a few months. Or, the expansion is released before book 13 or 14, but the Turbine rep just wanted to state that we will continue to get free updates even after the expansion. In terms of other news, all I can think of is external stats or something, but that isnt so huge. 'Sooner or later, the day comes when you can't hide from the things that you've done anymore.'

Maybe they are adding new classes or letting us do PvP in the wild, not in the moors.

I would hate P V MP in the wild, it would ruin the game. I do hope its expansions news. Book 12 was extrmemly small as it didnt relly introduce much. Mabey it so small as they are working hard on a large expansion. The 1 year anniversary of Lotro is coming up, great time to release a REAL expansion.

NO. Not in Lotro. It would not feel like lotr. There is a reason Turbine limits PvP.

There is no PvP in lotro...just PvMP. How would it not be like lotr? I bet people tried to kill other people while they were travelling...

I wouldnt like it personally.
*Walking along an old shire road. Boom, a group of people ambush you. Bye Bye. "Dang People, now I gotta pay that 1 gold in repairs that I just paid and walk all the way back." ----- Read the post in the expansion topic under lotro, if the pvp was like that, that would be cool. ![]() Middle Earth Center Links MEC Youtube | MEC Game Networks | Forum Guide | Forum FAQ | Site Feedback Personal Links Xfire Profile | Xbox Gamertag | My Store Last edited by zach: Feb 19th, 2008 at 09:14 PM. It should be limited to certain areas. Low-level areas should be protected. Besides, all the good territories would have NPC guards outside towns, and players running around questing anyway. So evil players would only be able to attack those areas in big groups.

They would have to get into the zone first... besides, I figure they would always be about the same level as the freeps.
