War in the North gameplay demo at PAX

I had the opportunity to go to the Penny-Arcade Expo (PAX) over the weekend to take a look at Snowblind's Lord of the Rings: War in the North. Snowblind has taken a new direction with this game -- it's the first M-rated Lord of the Rings video game -- and let me tell you, they're doing an excellent job of it.

They showed us a gameplay demo, and I also had a chance to ask some questions, so first I'll go over the demo and then I'll list the other random tidbits I learned. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get any decent pictures, so I'll sprinkle in some screenshots from our image gallery to show a little of what I'm talking about.

This weekend marks another edition of the Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle, Washington. Snowblind will be on the expo floor with a demo for War in the North, and Middle-earth Center's own admin Heron will be hands-on to provide everyone with the latest info, news, tidbits and media. A batch of new screens for Snowblind's upcoming action-RPG War in the North have been released, courtesy of Gamersyde. Seemingly taken from the same location as the last series of screens, we're introduced to a Dwarf informing some Goblins that it's 'Hammer Time', an Elf who's been taking tips from Legolas and a Human magician. Gamescon 2010 has brought some additional news regarding the upcoming hack-n-slash RPG, The Lord of the Rings: War in the North. A bit of news that seems to have slipped under the radar somewhat, but apparently a company called Glu Mobile is working on a Lord of the Rings "tower defense" game for the iPhone. LotRO Free-To-Play Dated!

We all have known that The Lord of the Rings: Online was going to go free-to-play sometime this Fall; today, however, the date for the launch of the free-to-play version was announced as September 10th.

New War in the North Avatar Gallery

As with every new Lord of the Rings game, it seemed time to role out an avatar gallery for War in the North. The gallery is a collection of early screenshots and concept art. Obviously, content is limited right now. However, as more information and content is released from the development team we will certainly update the gallery as well as our information pages regarding the.

To go along with this, expect an update to the "VIP" avatar gallery. If you forget, this gallery includes avatars that must be unlocked by getting a pre-defined amount of posts. The current gallery ends at 150 posts, but I will probably expand this to 500 posts in the near future.

As a final update, if you wish to advertise us on other forums or websites you visit, make sure to check out the pinned topic at the head of this forum. I have just added a new signature there for your use.
