A bit of news that seems to have slipped under the radar somewhat, but apparently a company called Glu Mobile is working on a Lord of the Rings “tower defense” game for the iPhone. Titled Lord of the Rings: Middle-earth Defense, the game lets the player play seven battles from the movie trilogy. There’s some initial info on the game over at IGN and at TouchArcade. Make sure to check those out if you own an iPhone and like tower defense. The game won’t appear in the appstore until this December, though, so details are still scarce.

Tower Defense? :ehh:

Arvedui:

Omg.... I am REALLY looking forward to this. A game I'll actually like for the iPhone, finally.

Ilaras of The Dunedain:

I have one page of "game" apps, and only two remain addictive. Most I get over within a couple weeks.

Mithrandir7:

There BETTER be an iPad version for this! The larger screen means much more fun for me. :)

Same here... it's rather sad. At least most of them were free games.

The choice and positioning of the towers is the essential strategy of the game. Many games, such as Flash Element Tower Defense, feature enemies that run through a "maze", which allows the player to strategically place towers for optimal effectiveness.[4] However, some versions of the genre force the user to create the maze out of their own towers, such as Desktop Tower Defense.[5] Some versions are a hybrid of these two types, with preset paths that can be modified to some extent by tower placement.

I know what tower defense is. I don't like the idea of LOTR tower defense game, but whatever.

Mithrandir7:

Well it seems that it really won't be much of a LotR game... I mean how intelligible will the units be? Just a tower defense game with LotR plastered on it, to be honest.

Ahh sorry. I mistook the meaning of your post. My apologies.
