Despite the fact that Peter Jackson has stated that he does not want to fill the role of The Hobbit’s director, progress is still being made. There is a rumor circulating now that Neil Blomkamp, the director behind District 9, will be directing The Hobbit. While there is no solid information floating around regarding Neil stepping up, it would make sense. Neil and Peter Jackson worked together in District 9 and were planning on working together on a Halo movie, which was later Canceled. To further back this up it appears Neil has a open schedule, so it seems he will have the time to fill the directors role.

With the friendship between Niel and PJ, it is evident that this rumor is logical if anything. As time progresses hopefully more information will be released and the Hobbit can get back on track.
