In an interview made available to Middle-earth Center exclusively, Snowblind Studio head Ryan Geithman reveals the first information on War in the North’s co-op, clearing up some of the questions that had been raised in the community.War in the North will not only feature online multiplayer co-op, there will also be the possibility to play with a friend in split-screen co-op:
The WarInTheNorth.com News Team members are big fans of the community at the Middle-earth Center and we’re happy to pass along an exclusive bit of news about the game to Freek and the rest of the staff at MEC.
WITN: Fans are excited about the three-player co-op, but have questions as to how it’ll work from a technical standpoint. What can they expect?
Ryan Geithman [Snowblind Studio Head]: I’ve been reading the forums and had noticed that question coming up, too. I think our fans will be excited to know that we fully support same console co-op (split screen).WITN: Awesome, so two-player “couch co-op” is in. Great to hear. How else can people play?
Ryan G.: Any combination of three players, basically—Two on one console and another on a third, or 3 consoles networked, etc.WITN: Thanks Ryan! We’re sure our fans will be glad to know they have a number of options.
Also, Snowblind Studios confirmed to us that a singleplayer mode will indeed also be featured, giving players the choice on whether they want to play with friends or on their own. The Lord of the Rings: War in the North is set for a release on PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2011. Find out more about the game by checking our news archive and our special information page. That is really nice. It's nice to hear about a co-op, especially since so many have not included it. And lets face it, Lord of the Rings is definitely a co-op game :P.
vampero:
Cool now me and the GF can play at the same time!!8)
Freek:
Yeah the split-screen along with a 3rd player via online sounds great!
Bareandir:

Any information when in 2011 Snowblind planning release? First half or late next year? Hopefully first half, can't wait almost 2 years! :D
Looking forward to E3 this year. Hopefully we'll see some gameplay :P
zach:
Nope no specifics but E3 may hold lots of news. ;)
Mithrandir7:
Very cool information, and a great big thanks to SB for the interview. We're all definitely looking forward to E3 :)
Edheldae:
Cool, now I can look forward to playing this a bit more. Always good to get my wife hooked on the same titles so we don't have ta fight for screen time.
EmThor:
Thx for the info, every tiny bit counts!
kylej13:
Rated M? I probably won't be buying it then.
zach:
Rated M doesn't mean that it will be excessively gory or anything. Halo is rated M and it doesn't have near the amount of blood of other M rated games, such as Gears of War.

A darker story wouldn't be bad. One that shows the true situation of those up in the north.
Freek:
There is mention of a troll chewing on someone's head with blood pouring out...
