Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment has laid off an unknown number of jobs at three of its studios, including Snowblind Studios which has been rumored to be working on a Lord of the Rings RPG. It is unknown whether this rumor is true in the first place but if it turns out to be true, we can only hope that the game does not suffer from the smaller development team. However these positions could just be executives not pulling their weight in a competitive industry. The full statement can be found below:

“We are committed to growing Warner Bros. in the game space and will be retaining robust teams in our Seattle studios. We have been moving towards sharing certain resources across the studios and have also been reallocating resources to align talent with our development needs. Unfortunately, we had a few too many resources in certain functions and some positions were eliminated in this process. Our plan is to continually review staffing needs and as future projects evolve we would expect to see the studios grow.”

I was just on Snowblind's site and Mike the community manager has posted an update, the best part of which says;

"- We’re still making excellent progress on our yet-to-be-announced title. I think (hope!) that everyone will be excited when we make the announcement. Once that happens, we’ll be launching a community site dedicated to the new title which we expect to be fun and informative for everyone in the community."

He goes on to talk about how they are remaking the site in February and forums after the games announcement. With the slip from WB that a War in the North game trailer will be included in the Blu Ray box set due for release in april, it looks increasingly likely that WITN will be announced in February/March. He ends his post with a note saying 2010 is going to be a big year for them... could we see the game released by the end of the year?

There has never been any information about a War Of The North trailer featured in the blu-ray movie box of LOTR.
Only a trailer for Aragons quest, I suspect you might have mixed this up:
"Disc 1 The Fellowship of the Ring Feature
Trailers: "The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest" Game Trailer,"

It's never the amount of sources that's important, it's the reliability of the source.
You just may have one site basing their info on an other site resulting in 3 sites giving (possible) wrong information.

There is no official statement of the War in the North trailer on the blue ray editions of LOTR. Not even in the official statement.

Thank you, point made.

However, it wouldn't suprise me though, if the WOTN trailer is included since a lot of hints point for a Snowblind announcement in february.
But so far nothing is confirmed.

If we track back to the orig. press release there is no information about any "War in the North"-trailer:
http://www.theonering.com/articles1-...uRayApril62010

We are not saying that the trailer it wont be in box, just that there is no official word/cofirmation about it.
As I stated earlier the trailer might very well be in the box since Snowblind in preparing some announcment come february.

LOTR PO:

Speaking of LOTR games, I read yeasterday about a announcement of The One Ring: The Lord of the Rings® Role-playing Game. Anyone who knows what kind of game this will be. Is it like Fallout 3, where you make a character and walking around in a big world and doing sidequest´s and stuff or is it going to be something else? :-)

Samus1111111:

Well, there was a game released on 2002 that was called The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying Game, so that might be what they meant, or it could be a new game. Could you provide the link for that anouncement?

If I am not misstaken, it is a strategy board game.

zach:

No its a roleplaying game similar to D&D for those who play. You get character sheets and such and you control your hero as your GM(game master) unfolds a tale for you.

However if you are looking for a strategy board game look at the recently released Middle Earth Quest:

LOTR PO:

I read it on "The One Ring.net" and followed the link to: http://www.cubicle-7.com/
