IncGamers has posted a snipet of an interview with Saul Zaentz Company, the holders of the lord of the rings license. As may have been expected they were not exceptionally pleased with Conquest although they do give EA a positive for the many other Lord of the Rings games they have made. With the Hobbit being made, I am sure companies will be drooling over the rights to the book, and Conquest could potentially harm EA from getting the license. This doesn’t necessarily mean that EA still wont get the book license and their is always the movie license too. The coming years will be exciting for Middle Earth fans.

Asked whether the company were satisfied with the final product and whether they thought it was a rush job to push out a game before the license expired, Fredrica Drotos, a licensor from Saul Zaentz said it is difficult approve something that had obvious issues.

“You’ve hit on a really sore spot.  We were happy with a lot of what EA did and they’re a great company but it’s difficult when something comes down for our review and we have issues with it. ”

“We are not videogame experts.  Our job is to make sure that nothing in these games are objectionable.  I don’t think there was anything in the final product of Conquest that was actually objectionable.  It may not be the best game in some people’s opinion, but I don’t think the Tolkien Estate or anyone else could say it was inappropriate as a representation of the Lord of the Rings lore. “

In my opinion, companies like Saul Zeantz especially should look at what a company is planning on doing with their license, and what the audience wants - before giving it out to the highest bidder. New Line is a different story, but Saul Zeantz specifically is there to protect J.R.R. Tolkien's legandarium.

Yea the license should be sold on a per game basis and the idea must be flushed out pretty well, with the major aspects known.

Well...let us hope they don't give EA the licence again :/

Nah, I don't really care about what others think about this game, it's what you and I think about this game. I've read way to much bad comments about the game that I'm getting tired of it. Can't we get new info about the new DLC or something else important?

Who do we want to make the next Lotr games? I really don't know who I want.

Blizzard xD....JK

Cheeky Hobbit:

Bethesda gets my vote. I don't mind EA acquiring the license once more, so long as Pandemic doesn't develop the game(s).

Fallout3 was majorly "meh" imho, but thats because I dont like the zombie genre. I would hope that one of the smaller studios/publishers gets it. Bioware (EA), Relic (THQ), Bethesda (Take2), TotalWar (SEGA) are all high on my list when it comes to the genres that worked for LotR. We can rule out another MMO and I don't think they're going to try a game similar to Conquest.
