ActionTrip has logged in their review of the Lord of the Rings: Conquest a bit late, but that doesn’t make their judgement any less harsh. They gave the game a “4.9 – Tolerable” mark. Here’s some excerpts which outline what they had to say.
Anyway, if this game strikes you as appealing, then it means you’re either eager to play something reminiscent of Pandemic’s SW: Battlefront series or you still need to quench your thirst for the Lord of the Rings universe and its races and characters. If that’s the case, then perhaps you can find some enjoyment here, though for a brief time. The narration, provided by Hugo Weaving, and the occasional cut-scene manages to capture the magic of the movies. That’s as far as it goes, I’m afraid.
The simple fact remains that Lord of the Rings: Conquest isn’t a very fun game. Thanks to all the aforementioned drawbacks, there’s virtually nothing to enjoy about the single-player (we strongly advise you skip that).
Giving us nothing better to chew on apart from lackluster releases such as Mercenaries 2: World in Flames and now Lord of the Rings: Conquest, it’s obvious enough that Pandemic is really starting to go downhill as a development team.
HIGHS
Plenty of familiar locations, maps are nice, a few cool ideas;
LOWS
Altogether a pointless effort we could’ve done without.

My advice would be to play the demo first and/or rent the game and then decide for yourself. Same goes for most games actually.
