Gaming site Crispy Gamer got the chance to sit down with Sean Soucy, lead designer for the Lord of the Rings: Conquest. The interview goes a little bit more in-depth then the ones we saw at IGN, Gamespy and TORn before – but does not reveal any new features.

Soucy revealed that the game would indeed be played from a 3rd person perspective, and went on to answer some new questions about the difference between the X360, PS3, PC and Ninentdo DS versions of the game:

Crispy Gamer: The game is set for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC and DS. I assume the first three versions will be largely the same, right?Soucy: Yes, they’re all being developed in parallel together, though the PC version obviously needs a little special attention in order to make sure the experience with a keyboard and mouse is up to par.

Crispy Gamer: Will there be any cross-platform play between the PC and 360 versions?

Soucy: Unfortunately, there won’t. There are technical issues there that have prevented us from being able to do this.

The interview also answers a few burning questions about the ranged vs melee mechanic in the game, although Soucy doesn’t explain in full detail how the combat system will work.

the Lord of the Rings: Conquest is currently under development by Pandemic Studios, and is scheduled to ship to store shelves this Fall.

Leggy:

Makes me even more pumped than i already was

Freek:

Too bad it doesnt have any screenshots :( I wouldnt mind a combat run-trough either.

Leggy:

Me neither, but maybe we will in the near future.

zach:

I am sure it will be in the trailer.

Freek:

Doubtful. Trailers are usually more cinematic rather then showing how it works, which buttons to push etc.

That would be material for developer diaries.

Davidek:

trailers are to show cinematic things in the game, official movie 1 will come near July...
